The 6th edition of the women’s Liège–Bastogne–Liège is played out on Sunday … April. Actually running from Bastogne to Liège, the route amounts to approximately 135 kilometres. From La Redoute onward, the route usually is identical to the men’s race.
Demi Vollering is title holder. Last year, she outsprinted Annemiek van Vleuten, Elisa Longo Borghini and Kasia Niewiadoma on the line after an impressie lead-out by Anna van der Breggen.
Anna van der Breggen (2017, 2018), Annemiek van Vleuten (2019) and Lizzie Deignan (2020) won the first four editions of Liège–Bastogne–Liège Femmes.
The Mens 108th edition of Liège–Bastogne–Liège will be held on Sunday 24 April. La Doyenne – as the race is nicknamed – is one of the oldest classics on the cycling calendar, and it is the fourth Monument in the season. Liège–Bastogne–Liège is the last of the Spring classics before the Grand Tour season starts. The race amounts to roughly 250 kilometres, setting out from Liège towards Bastogne, taking a U-turn and heading back to Liège via some of the toughest climbs in the Ardennes, including the iconic La Redoute. After 27 years in the suburb of Ans, the finish of La Doyenne returned to the centre of Liège in 2019.
Tadej Pogacar is title holder. Last year, the Slovene outsprinted Julian Alaphilippe, David Gaudu, Alejandro Valverde and Michael Woods on the line.
